But, to imbibe them in the student, WE EXPECT OUR STUDENTS’ GUARDIANS to be perseverant and patient.

We know every guardian wants quick improvement. But, one must understand that weakness in the student has been the outcome of years’ negligence on the subject or mal-handling it by amateurs. It is impossible to bring about changes quickly.

That is why we advise the guardians to be patient, wait for at least one year. The green shoot of improvement will show up. Such knowledge is going to last long.

However, for the late comers who are ON THE VERGE OF THEIR Board Exam, we have crash courses to bring about cosmetic improvement for the sake of the marks, as such.

WHY DO WE TEACH JUST ONCE A WEEK ???

TODAY, STUDENTS ARE BURDENED WITH A LOT OF ACADEMIC, PHYSICAL AND SPORTS ACTIVITIES. They have very less time for self-study. Besides, they often commute every day distant places for the above mentioned reasons. Therefore, it is sheer wastage of time to unecessarily elongate the course module and give the impression of labouring hard after them. We know, we’ve proven and it is in our time tested experience of over 30 years that:

1.  Repeating the same class, often whiling away the time over sweet-nothing is a marketing ploy. And such matter is patronised by a few time-and-space conscious guardians. They are of the wrong impression that: the more the number of classes per week is, the better.

2.  Elongating classes often bores students. Educating them takes a back seat. Gossip and club like atmosphere prevails in the class room. Ironically, many guardians turn a blind eye to this fact.

3.  Going and coming back from the coaching centers / institutions  become an important practice. The true purpose of learning becomes lost. Time, energy and money are lost in the process.

4.  In this jet-set age of time crunch, often the intelligent, esteemed guardians find this farce of many-classes-a-week meaningless. They would therefore insist on concising the classes saving time and energy.

Of course, such a practice requires the class-handling of an extremely experienced tutor who has developed a methodology to impart such lessons once in a week time.

Please read on very carefully. It may change the course of your ward's future.

A  CAVEAT :
 
EDUCATING CHILDREN IS AN INVESTMENT. IT NEEDS FORESIGHT TO UNDERSTAND THE need for QUALITY OF EDUCATION. IN THIS EVER INCREASING COMPETITIVE WORLD, ECONOMY IS RELATIVELY ALWAYS SHRINKING COMPARED TO THE SUPPLY OF MAN POWER. UNEMPLOYABLE EDUCATED PEOPLE ARE MANY. THEY BECOME BURDENSOME TO THEIER PARENTS. TO AVOID THIS, MANY GUARDIANS PAY HEFTY AMOUNTS TO THE PREMIUM INSTITUTES AT THE PROFESSIONAL COURSE ENTRY LEVEL. THEY EXPECT THEIR CHILDREN TO LAND A COZY JOB THROUGH INSTT. SPONSORED CAMPAS INTERVIEWS. TRUE. BUT,…..HAVE YOU PONDERED WHAT HAPPENS TO THOSE MAJORITY OF INTAKES AFTER 6-10 MONTHS IN SERVICE? WELL, MOST OF THEM ARE JUST PUT ON “BENCH MARKING” WITH HALF PAY OR ARE JUST SACKED. AGAIN BEGINS THE ENDLESS SEARCH FOR NEW JOB HUNTING. WHY ?? BECAUSE BASICS, COMMUNICATION SKILLS, LEADERSHIP ETC ARE VERY POOR AMONG THEM.
 
THIS MAY BE AVOIDED IF THEY DO NOT COMPROMISE ON QUALITY OF TUTORS AT THOSE EARLY YEARS (when the students are in VI-XII). THE COMPETITION FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAMS WOULD BE EASIER FOR THE STUDENT. THE STUDENT MAY ENJOY SUBSIDISED STUDY AT THE COST OF GOVT/OTHER PAYING FAR LESS.
 
CREATING A STRONG FOUNDATION BECOMES NECESSARY FOR THE CHILDREN. PEOPLE FAIL TO UNDERSTAND THAT FUTURE SUCCESS OF THEIER KIDS DEPENDS ON HOW MUCH SERIOUS THEIR GUARDIANS ARE FINDING  EFFICIENT EXPERIENCED TUTORS.
 
TEACHING FOR POCKET MONEY IS CLICHÉ. PEOPLE EMBRACE HOME TUITION / PRIVATE TUTORING BETWEEN THEIR JOBS, TO EARN A FEW EXTRA BUCKS, BEFORE JOINING A COMPANY, TO AVOID BOREDOM OF BEING AN EDUCATED HOUSEWIFE ETC. IT IS MOST OFTEN A FAVOURITE PASTIME & SOURCE OF QUICK BUCK FOR THOSE EDUCATED INEXPERIENCED ONES.
 
BUT, TO MOST OF SUCH MUSHROOMING HOME TUTORS, IT IS A SMALL PHASE IN THEIR LIFE. THEY ARE AMETEURS, NOT PROFESSIONALS. A PROFESSIONAL IS ONE WHO HAS DEDICATED AT LEAST 20 YEARS IN THIS PROFESSION, HAS A GREAT COLLECTION OF QUESTION PATTERNS, HAVE DEEP KNOWLEDGE ON COURSE-CURRICULUM CHANGES, HOLISTIC AND CURRICULUM BASED IDEAS. IT DEVELOPS AS ONE TEACHES ALONG WITH GREAT PROFICIENCY AND UNWAVERING PERSEVERENCE. SUCH A TUTOR WORKING INDEPENDENTLY CAN ACTUATE AND TRIGGER INTEREST IN THE STUDENT.
 
BEING GOOD IN A SUBJECT DOES NOT MAKE ONE A GOOD TEACHER. SO, A PERSON WITH FAR HIGHER EDUCATION MAY FAIL TO IMPART INTEREST & INSPIRATION ON THE SUBJECT. PROFIT MAXIMISING IS INSTT’S PURPOSE. THIS IS TRANSLATED INTO PROCURING MANPOWER FOR MEAGRE SALARY (you can imagine the quality, in that case…) AND OFTEN EXTRACTING HEFTILY FROM THE GUARDIANS. SO, ARE YOU ALWAYS SEEING GOOD TEACHERS IN THE INSTITUTES?
 
GO FOR INDEPENDENT PROFESSIONALS. IT'S AN IRONY THAT PEOPLE PAY SCHOOLS / INSTITUTES HEFTILY. BUT, THEY HAGGLE SHAMELESSLY WITH PRIVATE TUTORS. BUT, THESE HOME TUTORS ADDRESS THE STUDENTS PERSONALLY, CARE AND WATCH THEIR IMPROVEMENTS CLOSELY, BRING ABOUT CHANGES IN THEIR METHOD OF TEACHING AND THUS, LAY THE FOUNDATION OF INSPIRATION AND KNOWLEDGE AMONG THE STUDENTS. 
 
A PRIVATE TUOR / HOME TUTOR TEACHES ONE TO ONE  OR A HANDFUL FEW UNLIKE THE CORPORATE INSTITUTES' COUNTERPART AT ONE TO AS MANY AS SIXTY BASIS. WHAT ATTENTION CAN A STUDENT DRAW FROM THIS CROWD  IN CASE OF A DOUBT ?
 
INVEST WITH PRUDENCE NOW. BE A PRAGMATIC GUARDIAN. AVOID HEFTY EXPENSES FOR FUTURE PROFESSIONAL STUDIES.

WRONG  IDEAS  a few guardians NURTURE:

A few guardians seemingly overstress on certain subjects, understress and ignore the rest of the subjects. They often think that a mere completion of the course on the so called unimportant subjects over a few months’ tuition will entail somewhat decent marks.

Such guardians would engage a tutor for a short period, extract the solution to whatever difficulties the student has been facing and then dismiss the tutor. Next, they themselves will assiduously try to spoon-feed their wards the corrected notes, suggestions etc. For lack of experience and expertise, they fail at the last moment. The average percentage will fall. Little do they know that such a misguided strategy will land the student into the abyss of failure at the last moment.

The guardian may know the subject. But, he / she may not have been long in the field of tutoring this particular subject. So, he / she does not know the answering pattern, questioning styles, modes of choosing the answers, selection of chapters for the year, improvisation through trial and error, holding the mock tests at times, collecting question papers and having them answered and checked over several months’ time.

Here comes the necessity of a  prolonged engagement  of an expert tutor.

FINISHING THE SYLLABUS IS BARELY ANY BEGINNING OF PREPARATION. An ideal tutor completes the syllabus in 50% time and spends the rest 50% in preparing the student with his tools. Actually, the preparation begins after the completion of the syllabus.

The “Market” offers many books on the subjects. The examiners themselves know them. They would not be impressed if the student answered from them. Sometimes, answers are also given in those books. Often such answers to the given question papers do not justify themselves. Hence, the student will mimic them, but can not answer if the question is changed a little.

ONLY REGULAR TUTORING BY AN EXPERT over the whole academic year(s) CAN HELP SECURE GOOD MARKS.

Then there are other guardians who spend most of the time switching tutors. They look for quality tutoring at a cheap price. SUCH A COMBINATION CAN NOT EXIST. Quality service is directly proportional to the Remuneration.

Dear guardian,
 
Hope, you're doing well. The method of engaging an efficient tutor for the ward has been widely discussed in my site dbhattacharjee.com. So, it is needless to dwell on the issue.
 
As such, one has to bridge between the capacity to hire and the gap of expectations to be made up. Many prefer not to spend on the subject just because the ward is very good at it. Besides, I've found many guardians compromising quality considering just a feather touch being necessary for the ward as he/she is good at it. The better the interests and performances are, the less is the need to spend after it.
 
The subject as well as the marks scored in the early stages is a TRAP. One must know that the advanced level study will be a different ball game altogether.
 
Many come to me with the plea at such final stages to cause improvement. I humbly express my inability. I can't plug the gap caused over a long period of negligence on THE PART OF THE COMPROMISING GUARDIAN in order to save a few bucks.
